INSIGHTS 173 — GOP, ACT LIKE A WINNER

I readily admit to being a proud right-of-center conservative, but I have mixed feelings about being called a Republican. The establishment party is both timid and dumb. No conservative should be timid in announcing what they believe and what they want to accomplish. The Republicans are afraid to tell the people their legislative goals and plans. They are afraid the progressives will challenge their programs.

Being dumb is harder to understand. The House and Senate Republican  leadership have never understood what Obama is about. He is not a typical left-wing Democrat or liberal president that battles over issues with the opposition. He has told everyone he is about transforming America. He has steadily worked toward a one-party socialist system of government and a re-distribution of wealth. He controls the agenda of government. The Republican Party, with the energy provided by the various tea parties, just won a resounding victory. But who is controlling the government agenda? Not the victors, but the loser!

Instead of telling the American people what great things they are going to do to restore economic growth, protect the rights of the people, re-establish our military and diplomatic prowess, and preserve the separation of powers doctrine, they are letting Obama dictate the agenda. The Republicans charge as long as the master manipulator flicks the red cape of executive power. He doesn’t care about Hispanic immigrants. If he did he would have passed legislation in the first two years of this reign when he controlled both houses of Congress. He only wants the Republicans to keep their identity as the party of anti-immigrants.

Why let a defeated president control the agenda of politics? Let him do his immigration executive order and work to pass a real immigration bill that will supersede Obama’s executive order. Strengthen the borders and give more border authority and funds to the border governors to fix their borders. They’ll do a better job than the federal government ever has or will. Ignore the rambling rhetoric of the president. Draft and pass real legislation. So what if he vetoes it. Keep legislating. That’s what you do. That’s your power base. That’s what you know how to do. Do not spend your energy and our time battling the president on his turf and his rules. Take charge. Let him pout and threaten to rule America with his pen and phone. See how far that gets him. The people have said Obama is irrelevant. Why don’t you believe them?

INSIGHTS 169: OBAMA’S IMMIGRATION WEB

Watch carefully as President Obama spins his immigration web. The purpose is not to help Hispanics or to fix a national disgrace. Like all web weavers what the web traps is for them. Obama executive orders or agency directives on immigration are to make the Hispanics believe he cares about them and to show Hispanics and others that the Republicans are against immigrants and their children. The president’s web is spun with a weave of inter-tangled issues. Look closely and you will find in the immigration web these issues.

Border Security

All Americans and all Hispanics know the border is not secure and if you are caught, you will soon be released in America. No matter how many Democratic border governors preach the border is secure we know it is not. When Republicans push for border security, Obama twists their concern for border security into an issue that reads “Republicans do not want Hispanics in America.” The border is open because Obama and his progressive lemmings want as many Hispanics crossing into America as possible for Hispanic votes for Democrats.

Work Permits

As part of immigration legislation, work permits are a good thing but we must also be aware that adding more potential workers to the workforce does not help citizens looking for work. Once we get the progressives’ feet off the brake of economic growth we will need the Hispanic workers. Their work ethic and entrepreneurship will be welcome in the economy. The Obama message regarding work permits is: “Republicans do not want Hispanic workers unless they can get away with very low wages and no benefits.”

Amnesty

This is a word that has no place in immigration legislation. It is only a word that stirs up Republican and labor union fears. Does it mean immediate citizenship? No! Does it mean no more fear of deportation or court appearances? Maybe. But this word has no positive connotation. It is only web material that makes meaningful legislation and the necessary bi-partisanship more difficult. It is, however, an issue progressives use to destroy the opposition. Is that you?

Citizenship Path

These two words add nothing positive to Immigration legislation. Any immigration bill will have not one, but several paths to citizenship. For instance, military service for a stated number of years, competence in the English language and American history, and no record of felonies. That should be enough to qualify for American citizenship. Obama progressives make real legislation difficult by hinting at paths to citizenship that are ill-defined or not acceptable by the opposition just so they can preach, “Republicans don’t ever want Hispanics to become American citizens.”

Don’t get caught in Obama’s immigration web. It will not be easy to escape the web spinner’s goal of progressive one-party rule in America.

INSIGHTS 161: ERIC HOLDER’S END GAME

theblaze.com

theblaze.com

Where do attorney generals go when they leave office? Most just follow the path of retiring generals of our military forces and just fade away or become talking heads. I can’t see our activist AG just going quietly into semi-retired obscurity. He is not yet finished.

In the progressive’s game plan, the control of the Supreme Court is the way they protect progressive gains and carry their socialist agenda forward. What is the top rung for any AG? It is certainly not becoming a part-time player on the ‘talking heads’ bench.

The top rung of the AG ladder ends in the Supreme Court. That is where their legacies can be protected and pushed forward. Of course, there has to be a vacancy on the court. No president, not even Roosevelt or Obama, can expand the court. Several Supreme Court justices are nearing or past a retirement date.

Justices, either liberal or conservative, know the game. They only retire when a like-minded jurist can be nominated by the president and confirmed by the Senate. If the Republicans take control of the Senate in the 2014 mid-term election, President Obama surely recognizes he would have a hard time getting an activist progressive nominee through the Senate.

I believe it was always Mr. Holder’s ambition to continue his socialist agenda on the Supreme Court after serving the president as the chief law enforcement official in the land. He has admirably protected the president from the scandals of the “Fast and Furious” gun running to drug cartels to the IRS’s flagrant partisan discrimination persecution of conservative political groups seeking legal tax exemption status.

Mr. Holder, as the protector of the president, has done an excellent job and deserves being repaid by President Obama. However, his strident partisan approach to enforcing the law of the land, selectively according to the progressive agenda, will make it nearly impossible to get any conservative votes in the Senate for him.

This reality dictated the timing of Mr. Holder’s resignation. If he is going to realize his dream of sitting on the Supreme Court, the president must nominate him while Democrats (progressives) control the Senate. It just may work. If it does, we will have a hard-core activist socialist on the high court for a few decades. Watch for the ‘going out the door’ law enforcement rules he sends out from his office such as anti-profiling.

Don’t confuse Eric Holder with real law enforcement.

EIGHT DECADES OF INSIGHTS 139

ISRAEL AND HAMAS

When Israel and Hamas have their battles every few years you can depend on a number of things being repeated. There is the start of the conflict provoked by some aggressive act by Hamas, a raid from a tunnel or the launch of missiles from Gaza into Israel. We have also seen repeated cease fires, some lasting days, some a few hours and others never getting started. We can also count on some bumbling by the State Department. Secretary Kerry is a world-class bumbler. In the end, Israel’s air, ground, and artillery forces prevail and the fighting stops until the next time.

During the conflict all the anti-Israel liberal voices in America and Europe bleat their moronic chants. They need no practice. It is always the same. “Israel needs to be controlled. They are not trying to avoid civilian deaths, the citizens of Gaza under Hamas’s leadership are fighting for their independence. If only Israel would end their occupation of Gaza and withdraw to the 1967 borders there would be no more violence. Israel won’t negotiate. The government (America’s) needs to pressure Israel to act responsibly.”

I know the radical left (today’s liberals) dislike facts unless the facts are theirs, but here goes in constant hope the truth will prevail.

(1) Hamas always starts the mini wars. Mostly with an increase in missile attacks. An increase because Hamas has launched missiles into Israel several times every month. How many nations would remain defensive in the face of rockets and mortars landing in civilian centers? Hamas missiles have poor or no guidance systems beyond the burning of the missile’s engine. So Hamas has no capability of avoiding population centers. In fact, population centers are their targets but poor guidance capabilities and the effectiveness of Israel’s “iron dome” missile defense and civilian missile shelters have spared Israeli population centers from heavy damage.

(2) No nation can negotiate with an enemy whose clearly stated goal is the total destruction of Israel and the Jewish people. What’s to negotiate?

(3) Hamas diverts cement and building materials, the Israelis permitted to cross the border, to the building of tunnels and other military facilities.

(4) Without support from radical Muslim nations, Hamas could not wage war.

(5) Hamas cares little about improving the lives of their citizens.

It is hard to understand why liberals equate the actions of a designated terrorist state with those of the only democracy in the Middle East. Except the liberal history is to always blame America or Israel. I think this blame America attitude has it roots in the liberal belief you can negotiate with anyone. If you show willingness to compromise your adversary will reciprocate. This history is shared by high officials in our government. How else can you explain the reckless reliance on negotiations and sanctions? Nations whose goal is to destroy us, use negotiations to buy time. If the end game is critical to our enemies, they will embrace the trade of continued negotiations and possible sanctions for time.

Israel is our only real ally in the Middle East. Why should we not use our influence and power to encourage the growth of democracy? Even in Muslim states. The book describing wars between democratic nations has not yet been written. The source material is just not there. I guess it never will be. On the other hand, there is great source material for the attacks of Muslim states on both other Muslims states and non-Muslim states. What is ISIS about? Has it shown tolerance for Christians or heretical Muslims? (Muslims who do not fit their definition of acceptability.) Is the ISIS movement’s mission to reinstitute a  strict Muslim rule over the territory its armies spread the Muslim religion in the 700s AD?

EIGHT DECADES OF INSIGHTS 135

OBAMA’S FOREIGN  POLICY

We all know our president does not like the tedious nature of foreign entanglements but by education and experience he is not prepared for working on the world stage. Maybe that’s why he is so eager to turn to the United Nations to handle problems our previous presidents, with one exception, understood and handled in house.

beforeitsnews.com

beforeitsnews.com

President Obama’s intellectual mentor, Mr. Saul Alinsky, wrote a brilliant guide for progressives (socialists and far left liberals) to gain power. Unfortunately, Mr. Alinsky never had any experience running a government. So even after the president is well on his way to seizing power, he is not equipped to use it to solve America’s foreign and domestic problems. He continues to use all issues as a means to destroy his opposition, the Republican Party. And that is Obama’s weakness. He doesn’t know how to use or keep power. Unfortunately for the nation, the Republican Party is not worth the title of the opposition party.

The president has not been helped by his two secretaries of state. Hillary Clinton and John Kerry are also clueless when it comes to solving intricate foreign policy issues. I have long been a student of foreign affairs. It is very hard to point to anything those two hapless secretaries of state have accomplished except to compete for leaving the heaviest jet engine carbon trail of any previous and hopefully future secretary of state. Their responses to any foreign affairs issue facing the president have been limited to causing chaos and confusion. The world is in worse shape than any time since WWII. Korea and Vietnam were not nearly the threat to world stability as current Russia, China, Iran, the Islamic Caliphate or the current conflict between Hamas and Israel.

The last troubled area is worth some more discussion. John Kerry, who I believe cannot be underrated, is proving again he can make any bad situation worse. Imagine the hypocrisy of bringing a truce agreement to Israel that was based on his consultations with leaders in Turkey and Qatar who are open suppliers and political supporters of Hamas, a recognized terrorist state. Any secretary of state with an ounce of common sense would have stopped in Egypt for advice. Egypt holds the overland gateway to Gaza and has a direct interest in stability on its borders since the Muslim Brotherhood is no longer in power in Egypt.

It is possible that Secretary Kerry was acting on the instructions of the president, who seems to be very pro-Muslim and, by his speeches and actions, clearly anti-Israel. If Kerry was acting on the president’s orders, it is clear that creating chaos and weakening the influence of America in the world still needs more attention from our president. In the least, it further exposes the ineptitude of our foreign policy secretary. There used to be a time when secretaries would refuse foreign policy approaches they did not feel were ethically or pragmatically acceptable.

Complicated? Hard to believe? Can’t be true? Read my new book, “INSIGHTS: Transforming America — Is This What We Fought For?which is free on Kindle for a limited time.
